Frequently Asked Questions

Short, direct answers on registration, rules, licenses, and catch verification. If your question isn't here, contact the tournament director — the organizer answers directly.

Do I need a California fishing license?
Yes. Every adult angler must possess a valid California fishing license and comply with all CDFW size, bag, and gear regulations regardless of tournament rules.
Is the tournament catch-and-release?
Yes. Every scored fish is measured on an approved board, photographed with the official tournament identifier, and released immediately.
How do I submit a catch?
Through the angler portal from your phone. You'll photograph the fish on an approved measuring device, select the species, and confirm the length. Submissions are judged and either approved or returned for more info.
Can juniors compete?
Yes. Anglers under 16 fish in the Junior Division and must check in with a parent or guardian.
Can I enter more than one division?
Yes, where eligible. The Big Fish Side Pot is an optional buy-in that stacks with any other entry.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The tournament director issues a call the morning of the event. Refund and reschedule policy will be published as part of registration.
